Larry Gatlin Joins Concert for Cumberland Heights as Very Special Guest
GRAMMY®-Winning Country Icon Brings His Voice, Story, and Message to the Ryman Auditorium for an Evening Supporting Recovery
Country music legend Larry Gatlin will join the star-studded lineup for the annual Concert for Cumberland Heights, taking place this Wednesday, October 29, at 7:30 PM at the historic Ryman Auditorium.
Known for his unmistakable voice, heartfelt songwriting, and decades of timeless hits with his brothers Steve and Rudy, Gatlin’s addition brings a powerful sense of authenticity and hope to this year’s event.
“The Concert for Cumberland Heights is going to help save the lives of alcoholics and addicts…I know because I am one who got help. THANK GOD!!” said Gatlin.
A GRAMMY® Award-winning artist, Gatlin’s career spans more than six decades of music, storytelling, and faith. From his early days in Seminole, Texas, where he began harmonizing with his brothers at the age of seven, to topping the charts with classics like “All The Gold In California” and “Houston (Means I’m One Day Closer To You),” Gatlin’s life has been a testament to both talent and transformation.
After earning a football scholarship to the University of Houston, Gatlin majored in English and developed a love for words that shaped his songwriting career. His compositions have been recorded by some of the greatest voices in music, including Elvis Presley, Glen Campbell, Barbra Streisand, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Dottie West, and Tom Jones.
From 1976 to 1992, Larry, Steve, and Rudy Gatlin toured extensively across the U.S. and abroad, collecting numerous industry accolades, including a GRAMMY® for “Broken Lady,” and multiple ACM and CMA nominations. The trio took their final bow in 1992 with the Adios Tour before Larry made his Broadway debut as the lead in The Will Rogers Follies, later touring the country to rave reviews.
Today, Gatlin continues to inspire audiences through both his music and message. Married for nearly 50 years to his wife Janis, he resides in Nashville and remains a proud father and grandfather.
This year’s show, hosted by The Warren Brothers, will feature performances by Natalie Hemby, Brian White, Joseph Habedank, Jeffrey Steele, Don Schlitz, Ira Dean, Walter Egan, and very special guest Larry Gatlin for an unforgettable evening of “A Night of Stories and Songs at the Ryman.”
The Concert for Cumberland Heights began in 1996 to benefit the John Hiatt Fund for Adolescent and Young Adult Treatment. It is the longest running benefit concert at the Ryman Auditorium. Thanks to the generosity of donors, this event has raised more than $3.8 million over the years to help teenagers and young adults struggling with addiction receive the specialized care and support they need. Approximately 2,400 people attend the concert each year, making it a powerful tradition that unites music and mission.Tickets are available now through the Ryman Auditorium box office and online at www.ryman.com.'
