Sweetnur joins a star-packed lineup including LeeAnn rimes, Blondie, Michelle Branch, Patty Griffin, Marty Stuart and more.

Coming back to Annapolis is like coming home for Chris.

“Annapolis is a cornerstone of some of my fondest memories,” says Chris. "In a lot of ways I "grew up" here, most importantly it's where I met my wife. It's always a joy to come back, and now to return as a songwriter among a star-studded line up is just surreal."

Chris's performance schedule is as follows:

  • Friday, September 15, 2023 - 12 NOON
    49 West Coffehouse

  • Saturday, September 16, 2023 - 3 PM
    Stan and Joe's

  • Saturday, September 16, 2023 - 6 PM
    Metropolitan

Sweetnur will share the stage with his producer, Tommy Sims, known for his work with Eric Clapton, Olivia Newton-John, Sting, Michael McDonald, Josh Groban, Wynonna, The Doobie Brothers, Bonnie Raitt, Matthew Morrison and more. Sims says: After almost 40 years in the business, it's still a rare experience to find such a talented artist both in songwriting and vocal ability. It's exciting to produce Chris and I can't wait for the world to hear what we've been cooking up!"

Rooted deeply in the realms of americana, rock, country, and alternative pop, Sweetnur promises an emotional journey, encapsulating the “beautiful struggle” of life in his songs.

A veteran, devoted father, and loving husband, Chris Nurthen's life experiences are the bedrock of his songwriting. His lyrics, both touching and evocative, shed light on the ups and downs of adulthood, painting a genuine portrait of marriage, family, and personal commitment. Through Chris's music, listeners are encouraged to embrace the inherent challenges of real love, drawing strength from understanding the imperfections and beauty of human nature.

While Chris's songwriting journey began as a passionate teenager in 2010, life took him on detours through the halls of the United States Naval Academy and across the seas in service to his country. Balancing his responsibilities as a naval officer and as the head of a family, he continued to nurture his songwriting talents. In 2020, with his naval commitments coming to an end, Chris embarked on a relentless pursuit of his musical dream, and he hasn't looked back since.

The Annapolis Songwriters Festival, set to take place from September 14-17, 2023, boasts a diverse array of talent.
